Remembrance Day in Australia is annually observed on 11th November although it is not a public holiday. This event remembers those who died as a result of war, particularly from World War I onwards.
Remembrance Day 2016 is on at Wembley Primary, Friday, 11th November with a minutes silence observed at 11am.
Red poppies are worn on blazers, shirts, jumpers and other items of clothing on Remembrance Day to remember those who died during a war. During the First World War, red poppies were among the first plants to bloom in the devastated battlefields of northern France and Belgium.
Students can purchase a Red Poppy for a gold coin donation. They will be on sale in the quad before school
